Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27 NIV

Our Mentoring Programs

Bible Study Mentoring

is a relational experience in which a spiritually mature woman shares her love of God’s Word and the Truth of Scripture one hour a week in a one-on-one time with one of the single moms at FLS. The goal is to strengthen and encourage the capacity of each single mom to grow, develop and/or change with Bible study the focus. In this program, coordinated by Lea Ann Brookens, each mom at FLS is matched with a volunteer mentor.

Homemaking Mentoring

is an opportunity for the moms at FLS to learn many of the skills needed to create warm and loving homes for their families. Once a month they gather to learn about sewing, cooking, candymaking, scrapbooking, or just about anything in which someone expresses an interest.

Children’s Mentoring

is a program to provide each child with a caring adult to whom the child can relate outside of the child’s immediate family. The mentor will regularly spend time with the child in games, activities, and occasional outings. The hope of the program is that the child will develop a personal relationship with the mentor and gain confidence and trust as a result of the relationship and that the child feels loved and appreciated by someone outside of the immediate family.
